Are you ready to take the leap and go off-grid? Meet Barry, a former computer programmer who transformed his life after a life-changing thought while working on the Y2K conversion. Barry realized that he had no marketable skills other than programming, leaving him vulnerable in case of an EMP or electrical grid failure. This realization prompted him and his family to purchase a single acre of land in 2014 and transform it into their off-grid home over the course of four years.
Through hard work and dedication, Barry learned how to build solar arrays and wind turbines, construct septic systems, weld, and grow his own fruits and vegetables. Despite the never-ending work, Barry and his family have found joy in each other’s company and in the sustainable lifestyle they’ve built for themselves.
Now, after five years of living off-grid, Barry considers himself an “Off-Gridder Critter” and wants to share his experience with others. Follow along as he offers tips and inspiration for those looking to make the leap and embrace a life off the grid.
