While it isn’t spring yet, Mother Nature gifted us a few days of temperatures above zero and for this time of year that is very unusal. Next week are going to get right back into the -20s again for a few days but I’ll take the nice sunny days while I can.

The nature trail I built last week for my grandson was very useful this week. Slowly walking through it, looking up it was easy to find dead trees that normally wouldn’t be seen during the summer with all the leaves on the trees. I identified several trees that needed to go and today I took most of them down with my chainsaw. Normally a hard task I was just happy to be outside!

Cutting down a tree is the easy part, the hard part is the clean up! The trees must have their branches removed, which I will shred and add to the compost. Once that is done the core of the tree will either become firewood, or if rotten or soft wood just stacked to be burned later. Just look at the mess left by this dead trees!

But the nature trail was very busy this week with turkeys and deer all making use of it. I detailed this in the post “The Turkey Parade“. All in all just a great week to be out in nature, hope you have a great week, cheers.
