This week I designed and priced out a chicken coop, the wood alone made it too expensive to make, so I found one and bought a used one. Besides that the garden took all my time.
Chicken Coop
The price of wood and doing it yourself has finally exceeded the price of buying a good used one if you can find it. After some searching I found a great one that will do for my 5 chickens that are arriving in September. It was built of 1 inch plywood and so solid and heavy I was beginning to believe we wouldn’t be able to get it onto a trailer but did. Once home I used the forks on the tractor to lift the coop off and put it place. I again was thankful for hydraulics.
It will be fine and at the rear is two boxes for the nests and the sides open for easy clean out. Now I’ll build a chicken tractor at some point this summer so I can put the chickens in different spots in the yard.
Other Stuff
We had a lot of rain so things are pretty muddy this week so not much else to report just some small tasks. We started working with the outdoor gardens to get ready to plant in late May. There is still too much a risk of frost at this tine of year.
Stay safe, cheers.
