The weeks seem to be going very fast for winter. This week we had two snow events, one a small one and one a big snow storm. The snow removal process went well ( I wrote an article on why a John Deere and a Berco) so I won’t repeat that here.
We are caring for my son’s year and a half old cocker spaniel / poodle mix. He is a lot of fun. After cleaning up from the 20 cm of snow we got here, the dog and I went a walk. He is a city dog and not really used to this environment. Today he learned three new things about winter snow and all I could do was laugh:
- When jumping into a snow bank twice your size, keep you mouth closed. He emerged chocking a mouth full of snow!
- Always dig a hole before squatting to do your business. I’ll leave that one to your imagination.
- The sticks you put along the walking path can’t be found after a 20 cm snow fall. He always carries a stick when we are walking, he will put it down and pick up another and so forth. Along the path there is likely 10 or so sticks he has strategically placed. However today he could not find any despite desperately searching.
Most of the week again was just the normal tasks getting ready for the snow and dealing with it. However I did manage to get one thing done that I’ve been trying to do forever, I moved my HAM radio antenna for ( 2 meter band ) an extra 10 feet higher. One of my side hobbies is Ham Radio. Hopefully I’ll now be able to reach cities farther away. The batteries for the Ham radio are also charged with their own 60 Watt small solar panel system but that for another day.
The rest of the week was busy doing my “work”, years ago I set up a company to build and maintain websites. It was a small venture and a side business while I worked full time. Right now it is my only paying job and I took the time to do work for those clients. Have a great week.
